Tourist Tax

As of July 1, 2024, Bonaire has introduced a new system for collecting the Visitor Entry Tax. This tax replaces the previous lodging and rental car taxes and applies to all non-residents visiting the island by air or sea.

Rates

  • $75 per person for all non-residents.
  • $10 per person for children up to 12 years old, so-called "Island Children," and residents of the other five islands of the former Netherlands Antilles.
  • Bonaire residents are fully exempt.

Important Information
To qualify for a reduced rate or exemption, valid proof must be presented upon arrival at the airport or seaport. If the proof is incorrect, invalid, or unavailable, the full fee of $75 will be charged.

The QR code obtained after payment is valid for 1 month. During this period, visitors can travel between islands (Island Hopping) and re-enter Bonaire without paying again.

If entering Bonaire a second time within this month, visitors must provide identification to verify that the QR code is in their name. If this cannot be confirmed, payment will be required again. Authorities may request proof at any time.

To avoid long lines, we strongly recommend paying the tourist tax online in advance.

Online Payment
The tourist tax can be easily paid online via the link at the bottom of this page. Payment can be made starting 7 days before departure using credit card or iDEAL.

💡 Get your QR code before arrival to prevent unnecessary waiting times.

If online payment is unsuccessful, you may select "Pay at Kiosk" to receive a QR code in advance. With this QR code, you can pay immediately upon arrival at the airport using credit card or debit card (Maestro). Cash payments are not accepted at the airport or seaport.

Tourism Improvement Levy (TIL)

At your accommodation, you are required to pay a Tourism Improvement Levy of $1 per person per night. This fee supports Bonaire’s hospitality and tourism sector, contributing to a socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable island.

Children under 13 years old are exempt from this fee.
